About the Lake Wales Arts Council

The Lake Wales Arts Council is an organization led by community volunteers.

4th of july volunteersOur mission is to build a community where art and culture thrive, enriching the lives of people. Our vision is to create a vibrant cultural arts destination.

Our volunteers serve in a variety of capacities: creating decorations for our Make It Magical holiday event and Fourth of July bike parade; serving as hosts and hostesses at various events;  recruiting artists for special events; and organizing events such as our annual Arts Festival and exhibitions that bring excitement to the Lake Wales community.


Annual signature events:

March 1, 2014 Student Art Show Ice Cream Social and Awards Ceremony, Polk State Lake Wales Arts Center, 10 a.m. – noon.

Friday, March 7, 2014, Art-B-Que to kickoff our celebration of the Citizens Bank & Trust Lake Wales Arts Festival from 6-9 p.m., local band and barbeque for $10

Saturday & Sunday, March 8-9, 2014, the Citizens Bank & Trust Lake Wales Arts Festival returned to the shores of Lake Wailes from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday, April 26-27, 2014, the 12th Annual Marilyn Newell Youth Music Festival will present students ages 11-18 competing in voice, instrumental, and piano for prizes potentially equaling more than $4,500. Each contestant will perform two contrasting selections from the standard classical music repertoire for each category entered. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 26. The public is invited to attend the free concert, awards ceremony and reception at the Polk State Lake Wales Arts Center.

magical girlsFriday, December 5, 2014, from 4-9 p.m., Make It Magical will return to downtown Lake Wales with hand-made decorations, carriage rides, Santa Claus, shopping and fun for the whole family


Permanent Collection is now on display at the Lake Wales Municipal Administration Building, 201 W Central Ave, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Art work by local artists is on display in the halls of the Polk State Lake Wales Arts Center.
