Soprano Reyna Carguill’s voice has been described as “warm” and “enchanting” and possessing “a captivating power that demands attention.” A native of Panama City, Panama, Reyna has appeared in concert and opera performances throughout the U.S. and abroad. Although Calvin is known for comic acting skills in such diverse roles as Monostatos in Mozart’s Magic Flute and the Four Servants in The Tales of Hoffmann, he has performed worldwide in numerous productions of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.
Accompanied by Brenda Raabe, Reyna and Calvin will present a program of spirituals, opera arias and duets, and excerpts from Porgy and Bess. They will also participate in the Arts Council’s outreach program to area students on February 13.
