Lake Wales Arts Festival a Fun Day Trip from Anywhere in Florida
Hit the Road and Enjoy a Day at the Arts Festival!
Sunny Florida is a fun place to live and visit, there’s no doubt about that. There is so much to do and see, from fascinating historic sites, to extravagant theme parks, to intriguing environmental wonders. It’s no wonder people flock to Florida in droves every year to spend their vacations in the Sunshine State. One fun and affordable thing to do is to check out the Citizens Bank & Trust Lake Wales Arts Festival.
Held every year on the shores of beautiful Lake Wailes, the Arts Festival has become a beloved community event that draws artists and artisans from around the country. This year marks 48 years of the Festival. Up to 100 artists will be competing for over $22,000 in prizes in categories ranging from fine art to woodworking to digital art and more. With price points for every budget, you’re sure to find something you’ll want to take home.
One of the best things about this Festival is its central location. Lake Wales is located in Polk County, the heart of Central Florida. If you are living in (or visiting) Tampa or Orlando, Lake Wales is only about an hour’s drive. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the big cities by visiting quaint Lake Wales for this fun family-friendly event. If you’re coming from St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Melbourne, or Vero Beach, it’s still less than a two-hour drive to reach the Festival.
Visiting the Citizens Bank & Trust Lake Wales Arts Festival is a refreshing change from the big name attractions. We’re not saying you shouldn’t visit the theme parks – they are a lot of fun! – but there is so much more to Florida than just Disney World. Come see how a small town puts on one of Florida’s largest arts festivals. There will be live music, food trucks, and children’s activities, so bring the whole family. Admission and parking is free. You won’t get that good a deal at the theme parks!
No matter where you are in Florida, visiting the Citizens Bank & Trust Lake Wales Arts Festival makes a wonderful day trip. Load up your family and friends, and get ready for a day to remember! You might even find that you’ll want to make this a yearly tradition. It takes place Saturday, February 23, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday, February 24, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There is also a special Art-B-Que Kickoff Party Friday night, February 22, from 6 – 9 p.m. which costs $15 to attend, $10 for students 12 and under.
