Something for Everyone at Lake Wales Arts Festival

So Much to See and Do at This Fun Annual Event

The Citizens Bank & Trust Lake Wales Arts Festival, presented by the Lake Wales Arts Council, is an eclectic delight. With artists submitting works in a wide variety of categories, there is something to appeal to just about anybody’s tastes. If you’ve never been, this is a great year to attend. Close to 100 artists and artisans will be on hand showcasing their original works. Plan on being impressed!

You’ll find a wide selection of paintings done in oil and acrylic as well as watercolors. Past years have brought everything from soothing landscapes to inspiring abstracts. Jewelry makers present unique necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Clay and porcelain artists form their medium into wonderful vessels and sculptures. Photographers will open your eyes to a new perspective with their fresh take on the world. Woodworkers will amaze you with their detailed craftsmanship. In addition to these, you’ll find sculptures, drawings, fiber crafts, mixed media pieces, glassware, and more.

Even if art isn’t really your “thing,” there is still plenty to enjoy at the Arts Festival. There will be local musicians playing music all day. Food trucks will be on hand with an assortment of fun foods to nibble on. There will even be a children’s tent where the kids can do arts and crafts. Support the area’s schoolchildren by visiting the students’ gallery. If you are a barbecue lover, you won’t want to miss the Art-B-Que Kickoff Party on Friday night, February 22, 6 – 9 p.m. It’s $15 to attend the Art-B-Que, $10 for students 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased by calling (863) 676-8426 or online at www.lw-arts.org.

There will be so much to see and do, you might want to attend both days. Since the admission and parking is free, that’s easy to do. Lake Wales is located in Polk County, the heart of Central Florida, so it’s an easy trip from Tampa, Orlando, Melbourne, Vero Beach, and other points throughout the state. The Festival takes place Saturday, February 23, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, February 24, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
